Free Habit Tracker with Streaks, Calendar and Insights (No Account, Works Offline)
Build routines that last with a habit tracker that never asks you to sign up. Track simple yes/no habits, daily counts like glasses of water, timed sessions like reading or practice, multi-step checklists, and “quit” habits where the goal is to avoid something. Your streaks, history, notes and stats are saved privately in your own browser, so nothing is uploaded and nothing sits on someone else’s server.
Most free trackers cap you at a handful of habits or lock the useful parts, like flexible schedules, a calendar view, statistics and data export, behind a subscription. Here everything is included: unlimited habits, schedules that fit real life, backfilling missed days, streak freezes, a forgiving habit-strength score, a journal, and backups you can take with you.
What you can track
- Yes / No habits you simply tick off, such as “Make the bed” or “Take vitamins”.
- Count habits with a daily target, such as 8 glasses of water or 30 push-ups.
- Timer habits measured in minutes, with quick +5 / +10 buttons or a live start/stop timer.
- Checklist habits made of several steps, like a morning routine. The day only counts when every item is ticked.
- Quit / avoid habits such as “No added sugar”. Each day is clean unless you record a slip, and your streak is the number of clean days since the last one.
Each habit gets its own icon, colour, category and optional reminder time.
Schedules that match real life
Not every habit is daily. Choose every day, specific weekdays, a number of times per week (say, three workouts any day you like), every N days, or monthly on a chosen date. Streaks follow the schedule, so a Monday-to-Friday habit isn’t broken by the weekend, and a “3 times a week” habit builds a streak of successful weeks instead.
Streaks that don’t punish real life
A streak counts consecutive scheduled days you completed. Three tools keep one bad day from erasing months of effort:
- Rest days mark a day as intentionally off. It neither counts nor breaks your streak.
- Streak freezes protect a day you missed. You get a monthly allowance per habit, which you can change in the settings.
- Pause stops a habit entirely, for a holiday or illness, and resumes cleanly when you’re back.
The habit strength score goes a step further. It rewards consistency over time rather than perfection, so one miss dents your score a little instead of resetting it to zero.
How to use it
- Click New habit, or drag a ready-made habit from the library into your list. Routine packs such as Morning routine, Wind-down, Fitness starter, Student and Digital detox add five habits at once.
- Tick, count or time your habits on the Today tab. Use the date arrows or the date picker to log a day you forgot, since you can log any past date but never a future one.
- Open Calendar to see a month at a time, Insights for streaks, completion rates, best weekdays, 12-week trends, milestones and which habits tend to travel together, and Journal to search the notes and moods you’ve attached to days.
- Drag the handle on any habit to reorder it, or use the Up and Down buttons in its menu. Press Undo (or Ctrl/⌘+Z) if you slip.
Keyboard shortcuts: 1–9 to log the first nine habits, N for a new habit, and T / C / I / J to switch tabs.
Back up, export and share
Export everything as JSON (notes, moods and rest days included) and merge it back later without losing what you already have, or export your history as CSV to analyse elsewhere. Open the CSV in the Spreadsheet viewer, or send it there with one click. If you want to inspect a backup file, the JSON formatter makes it readable, and the JSON diff shows exactly what changed between two backups. You can also print a report (save it as a PDF from the print dialog) or download a shareable progress card image.
Habits that depend on time of day pair well with the Countdown timer, and if you’re building a work routine, the Work hours calculator helps you set a realistic daily target before you turn it into a habit.
Privacy: what stays local and what doesn’t
Everything is local. Your habits, history, notes and settings are stored in your browser using its built-in storage, and they never leave your device. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics on your habit data, and no internet connection is needed to use any feature. Nothing in this tool is optional-online, so there are no network features to switch on.
Optional reminders use your browser’s notification feature. They are generated on your device and only fire while this site is open in a tab (or installed as an app). No server is involved, and no notification is ever sent from anywhere else.
Because your data lives in your browser, clearing your browsing data will remove it. Export a backup now and then; the tool reminds you when it’s been a while. The Clear all habit data button removes everything on demand.
Frequently asked questions
Is my habit data uploaded anywhere? No. It is stored only in your browser on your device. There is no account and no server holding your history.
Will I lose my habits if I refresh the page or close the tab? No. Every change is saved as you make it and restored the next time you open the tool. You would only lose data if you clear your browser’s site data, so exporting an occasional JSON backup is a good habit.
Can I use it on my phone and on my computer? Yes, but each device has its own separate copy because nothing is synced through a server. To move your habits, export a JSON backup on one device and import it on the other.
What does “habit strength” mean, and how is it different from a streak? A streak counts unbroken days and drops to zero after a miss. Strength is a smoothed score of your recent consistency: long, steady effort pushes it up, and a single missed day only nudges it down. It’s a kinder way to see whether a habit is really becoming automatic.
What’s the difference between a rest day, a freeze and a pause? A rest day is a planned day off. A freeze rescues a day you missed, up to your monthly allowance. A pause suspends the whole habit for a stretch of time. None of them break your streak.
Can I log a day I forgot? Yes. Move to any earlier date with the arrows or date picker and log it. If the date is before the habit’s start, the start moves back so your history stays consistent.
Can I import data from another habit app? You can import this tool’s own JSON backups, either merged into what you have or replacing it. You can also import a spreadsheet-style CSV with a date column and one column per habit, and you choose how a bare “1” should be treated, since apps differ.
Do reminders work when the tab is closed? No. Reminders are local, which means they need the site open in a browser tab or an installed app. This is the trade-off for keeping everything private and server-free.
